The Muchachos from Hawthorne,
New Jersey was organized by Ralph Silverbrand, drum major with the Caballeros,
in 1959. The Corps began as a parade unit but over a few short years
became a strong contender in the competition circuits. Throughout the
1960s, the Muchachos competed in all the major Drum & Bugle Corps
contests and, by the early 1970s, were ranked among the top DCI Corps
in the country. John joined the Corps in 1976 and got a spot in the
Snare Line. He marched with the Muchachos for two years and competed
in many major Drum Corps shows, including the American International
U.O.E.C's American Legion Nationals, World Open and the C.Y.O. Nationals
at Harvard Stadium in Boston, MA. |
